David Bergin created Eighth Street Planning to offer town planning consultancy services utilising his broad experience and knowledge of the Victorian planning system.

And the name? David’s childhood home was on Eighth Street in Mildura, part of the famous Chaffey Brothers’ grid plan, which perhaps inspired his future career in town planning?

David Bergin

David has over 25 years experience as a town planner, with a career spanning the private and public sectors. He has held a number of executive roles within state and local government and has a thorough understanding of how these approval authorities operate.

He has worked at Swan Hill Rural City Council, the City of Boroondara, Parsons Brinckerhoff, Mitchell Shire Council, DELWP (Department Environment, Land, Water and Planning) and Mornington Peninsula Shire Council, where he held the position of Director, Planning and Building.

This varied experience has exposed David to the full breadth of planning issues and he has particular expertise in resolving complex matters involving a number of stakeholders.

David has been involved in the following key projects: Waverley Park Transmission Line Advisory Committee; Smart Planning Program Advisory Group; ATO office, Dandenong; Government Services office, Dandenong; Officer, Clyde & Pakenham South PSPs; Koo Wee Rup Bypass EES; MPSC Planning Department Review; MPSC Industrial Areas Strategy; MPSC Green Wedge Management Plan; MPSC Neighbourhood Character Study & Guidelines; MPSC Housing & Settlement Strategy; various township Structure Plans & Urban Design Frameworks; MAV Port Phillip Coastal Advisory Group; and Crib Point EES.

David is a cricket tragic and avid Sydney Swans supporter; he has been known to use sporting analogies wherever possible!
